Demon Copperhead is a Pulitzer Prize-winning modern retelling of Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield. Set in rural Appalachian Virginia, the novel follows Damon “Demon” Fields as he navigates systemic poverty, the brutal foster care system and the devastating opioid crisis that ravages his community.
