Ma’s House Presents: Motherland — Visions of Home & Belonging SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Ma’s House is excited to share Motherland — Visions of Home & Belonging, a group exhibition featuring six artists exploring the meaning of home in relation to land, community, and heritage. Exhibition Details Dates: May 24 – August 15, 2026 Opening Reception: Saturday, May 30, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Gallery Hours: Thursdays & Sundays, 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (or by appointment) About the Exhibition Inspired by the legacy of Ma’s House—a family home turned communal art space on the traditional homeland of the Shinnecock people—Motherland coincides with the United States Semiquincentennial. While the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence does not mark the beginning of colonization on Turtle Island, it represents a significant turning point in how the narrative of “home” has been defined on these lands. Through assemblage, fiber arts, and mixed media, the featured artists express their understanding of and relation to the concept of home. The works on view: Demonstrate the role of traditional cultural practices in homemaking. Question the right to claim a place as home. Express a longing for home through connections to lineage and land.
