Light in the Shadows – Fifth Anniversary of The Fallen 13 of Abbey Gate

We invite you to join us for this 4-day event in honor and remembrance of the 13 souls who lost their lives on August 26, 2021, while supporting non-combatant evacuation operations amidst a high-risk security environment. These military comrades wrote the ultimate check in efforts to secure Abbey Gate at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan. One of those 13 was our very own St. Charles County resident, Jared Schmitz, just 20 years old.  This event will span over 4 days, with each day bringing something different in remembrance, reflection, and honor.
