Elegant Winter Container Workshop

Give entryways an elegant look from now until the new year with a classic outdoor urn arrangement. This hands-on class includes an introduction to design principles and all the elements needed to create a long-lasting display of native winterberry, magnolia, and evergreen branches. Hand pruners and garden gloves provided, but feel free to bring your own. This program takes place in-person at Mt. Cuba Center Friday, December 4, 2026. 🥬 Gift or take home About the Instructor: Kathleen Elliot is an Educator at Mt. Cuba Center with a deep commitment to ecological gardening and native plant appreciation. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Plant Science and English from the University of Delaware and earned a Certificate of Merit in Landscape Design from Longwood Gardens. Kathleen is also a certified Nature Journaling Educator through the Wild Wonder Foundation’s Educator Program. She brings her expertise to a variety of classes—from nature journaling to creative container gardening—where she inspires others to connect with the natural world and cultivate environmentally mindful gardens. Serah Pesce is the Education Manager at Mt. Cuba Center. She holds a BS in Landscape Contracting, Design/Build from Pennsylvania State University. Serah is a certified Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional, as well as a Delaware Nature Society Certified Habitat Steward. In addition to teaching classes for Mt. Cuba Center’s Ecological Gardening Certificate, she shares her extensive experience in floral design. When asked to name her favorite native plant, Serah is quick to share her love for baptisia.
