Craft your own festive Yule log inspired luminary centerpiece in this hands-on workshop. You will learn to prepare a natural wooden log, secure candles safely, and decorate your creation with fresh evergreens, pinecones, and seasonal accents. No prior experience is needed, and you will leave with a beautiful, glowing holiday decoration. Hand pruners and garden gloves provided, but feel free to bring your own. This program takes place in-person at Mt. Cuba Center Sunday, December 6, 2026. 🥬 Gift or take home 🥬 New class About the Instructors: Kathleen Elliot is an Educator at Mt. Cuba Center with a deep commitment to ecological gardening and native plant appreciation. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Plant Science and English from the University of Delaware and earned a Certificate of Merit in Landscape Design from Longwood Gardens. Kathleen is also a certified Nature Journaling Educator through the Wild Wonder Foundation’s Educator Program. She brings her expertise to a variety of classes—from nature journaling to creative container gardening—where she inspires others to connect with the natural world and cultivate environmentally mindful gardens. Serah Pesce is the Education Manager at Mt. Cuba Center. She holds a BS in Landscape Contracting, Design/Build from Pennsylvania State University. Serah is a certified Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional, as well as a Delaware Nature Society Certified Habitat Steward. In addition to teaching classes for Mt. Cuba Center’s Ecological Gardening Certificate, she shares her extensive experience in floral design. When asked to name her favorite native plant, Serah is quick to share her love for baptisia.
