Please select in-person or virtual when selecting tickets on Eventbrite. Wednesday, October 21 at 7 pm More than a century after it disappeared into a fierce Lake Erie storm, the fate of the Marquette & Bessemer No. 2 remains one of the Great Lakesโ€™ greatest maritime mysteries. Join author and historian Dr. Thomas Adams as he examines the shipโ€™s final voyage, the conditions that led to its loss, the crew who sailed aboard, and the evidence that may reveal its final resting place beneath the waters of Lake Erie. This hybrid lecture series is free to attend, with the option to participate in person at the National Museum of the Great Lakes or online via Zoom. Registration is required for both attendance options. While the series is offered at no cost, donations are gratefully accepted to support future educational programming. About the Speaker Dr. Thomas Adams is an allied health professional and amateur historian from Cleveland, Ohio, with a lifelong passion for Great Lakes history. He is the author of a book on the loss of the Marquette & Bessemer No. 2 and has presented his research to museums, libraries, and maritime organizations throughout northern Ohio. Dr. Adams also appeared as a featured content expert on the PBS special Secrets of the Abyss, which explored the enduring mystery surrounding the shipโ€™s disappearance.
