Feed Your Poetry - a writing workshop “The world begins at a kitchen table. No matter what, we must eat to live. The gifts of earth are brought and prepared, set on the table. So it has been since creation, and it will go on.” —Joy Harjo In this generative writing workshop will look at poems that use food to write about life. Food has inspired writers for centuries and can be an excellent tool to open up your poetry. Writing about food can help us write poems of comfort, of indulgence, poems about hunger and need, about tradition and family. We’ll reference poetry from Li Young-Lee, Seamus Heaney, Elizabeth Bishop, Craig Arnold, and others, and do a variety of creative writing exercises inspired by these poems. This two-hour workshop is open to writers at every level (recommended age 16+). Whether you consider yourself a poet or not, this writing workshop is a chance to dive into some poetry!
