Description: Watercolor doesn’t have to be intimidating! Want to try watercolor before you invest in supplies? Then this is the class for you. This is a nuts and bolts, information packed class. You will learn the tools and techniques to control the paint and water enabling you to be more successful with your future forays into watercolor painting. This four-part class is suitable if you have never picked up a watercolor brush before, if you have dabbled a bit or if it has been a while and you need to brush up your skills a little. The 4-week options listed above are repeats, so once one set is completed, you may attend any of my other classes or my studio class or go out on your own! NOTE: Contact the instructor if you have any issues with the dates and we may be able to work something out. Week I: Paper – In this class you will have the opportunity to learn the different kinds of paper that are available for watercolor. You will learn how to stretch watercolor paper. You will also learn some of the first basic watercolor techniques. You will learn a fun way to make clouds and finish with a little scene using some of the techniques learned in this first class. Week II: Brushes – This class will be all about brushwork. The first part will be demonstrations and lectures about types of brushes that can be used for watercolor painting. You will learn different mark making techniques with the brushes. We will paint grasses and if time allows a mini ocean waves scene. Week III: Paint – This class will be all about paint and color. We will discuss the brand of paint we will be using. There will be a little bit of color theory and color mixing. The last mini painting will be a mini tree landscape using the color mixing techniques learned. Week IV: Tips and Tricks – This final class will be comprised of teaching a lot of tips and tricks that I have learned over the years. I will also talk about additional supplies that I love to have in my arsenal and how to use them. For the last quickie mini painting we will do some little aspen trees or pine trees. Prerequisite: None-No experience necessary. Bring to class: All materials and supplies provided. For Part II, III & IV you are welcome to bring your own supplies if you want to, but you are not required to.
