The Heyday of Pejepscot Village with Ren Bernier Home in the late 19th and first half of the 20th century to the Pejepscot Paper Mill and the many buildings it constructed to create a full-service hamlet for its employees, Pejepscot Village is kept alive in the memories and stories of its former residents. Ren Bernier’s French-Canadian family worked in the mill and he grew up alongside families of Czech and Slovakian descent. He still lives on the corner of the former village and Route 196 and you’ll walk a portion of the former trolley line that runs through his property. You’ll also see the former school, general store, and some of the remaining houses. Starting point is Ren Bernier’s home; address provided to registrants.
