Artist Statement:
The moon paints with sand at the edges of the sea. She has different colors available: the blues and greens of the water itself, and within the sand: iron, algae, quartz, and more. She moves it into patterns using gravity and fluid dynamics through the water. Clearly an abstract expressionist, she is not inspired by but perhaps an inspiration for Helen Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns, Elaine de Kooning, and other artists of the movement, who inspired me. It was a joy to find I could have relationship to them using photography.
