Intro to Aquatint (summer 2026) from $50.00 with Emily Edwards Saturdays on July 18 & 25 and Sunday July 26, 1-4:30pm at the IC Press Co-op (225 N. Gilbert) pay-what-you-can: $50-250 Discover the velvety and rich airbrushed quality of tonal values produced with intaglio aquatint techniques. By using metal & acid at PS1’s community print shop, beginners and beyond are welcome to investigate the texture and tonality inherent within the graphic or hand-drawn imagery of intaglio. The workshop will use an array of tools: etching needles, crayons, sharpies, dremel engraving, paint brushes, sponges, and more. Methods in plate preparation, stop-out, print-shop safety/etiquette, and printing techniques will be discussed throughout the duration of the workshop. At the onset of the first session participants are encouraged to enter with a rough idea, sketch, or digital image to be transformed into an edition of 8 prints. Participants can expect to leave with a new approach to creating texture in their artwork and with the necessary information to continue printing and etching. Plus you’ll go home with your own edition of intaglio prints! Open to ages 18+. Registration deadline: July 11 *PS1 workshops are pay-what-you-can thanks to support from Hills Bank and individual donors. $196 is the true cost of the workshop for each participant. Please note there are a limited number of subsidized spots. We encourage participants to select the cost that they can afford, or pay a little extra to support future sliding-scale fees.
