About this event
One of 73 upcoming events at Rotary Club Of Austin, and 1,430 across Austin.
@ For nearly three decades, Mobile Loaves & Fishes has served people experiencing homelessness in Central Texas—not only by meeting immediate needs, but by building relationships, restoring dignity, and creating a genuine sense of belonging. Join Shane Blackshear for an inside look at the mission and impact of Mobile Loaves & Fishes. The Austin-based nonprofit mobilizes thousands of volunteers through three core programs: its food truck ministry, Community Works, and Community First! Village. Through its mobile food trucks, volunteers provide meals, clothing, hygiene products, and other essential items to neighbors living on the streets. Community Works creates opportunities for people who have experienced homelessness to earn a dignified income, while Community First! Village provides affordable, permanent housing within a supportive neighborhood intentionally designed around relationships and connection. Shane will share how Mobile Loaves & Fishes is addressing homelessness through the transformative power of community—and how Austinites can take part in serving their neighbors with compassion and dignity. Mobile Loaves & Fishes currently serves seven nights a week through its truck ministry, while Community First! Village is home to hundreds of people who previously experienced chronic homelessness.
