About this event
One of 73 upcoming events at Rotary Club Of Austin, and 1,400 across Austin.
@ The Rotary Club of Austin will not hold its regular luncheon this week in observance of the New Year holiday. As one year closes and another begins, this is a meaningful time to reflect on how we can continue living out Service Above Self. Holiday volunteer programs may be winding down, but the needs of our community continue well into January and throughout the year. Here are a few ways Rotarians can finish the year—and begin the next one—through service: Help address hunger in Central Texas Volunteer with the Central Texas Food Bank by sorting donations, supporting a mobile pantry, or helping distribute food through a community partner. Members can also organize a food or fundraising drive to support families facing food insecurity. Give blood locally The need for blood does not pause during the holidays. We Are Blood supplies hospitals and medical facilities throughout Central Texas and offers appointments at several Austin-area donor centers and mobile drives. Help neighbors move toward stability Caritas of Austin offers opportunities to serve meals, assemble hygiene kits, help prepare apartments for people moving out of homelessness, and support other needs as they arise. Start the year with a cleaner Austin Join an organized cleanup or gather a few friends, family members, or fellow Rotarians to care for a neighborhood street, park, trail, or creek. Keep Austin Beautiful can provide supplies and guidance for community-led cleanups. Choose a personal act of service Check on a neighbor, mentor a young person, deliver a meal, support a local nonprofit, foster an animal, or reconnect with a cause you have been meaning to serve. A new year is a perfect opportunity to turn a good intention into a lasting habit. However you choose to serve, we wish every member of our Rotary family a safe, joyful, and purpose-filled New Year.
