Phonics Tutoring

These phonics tutoring sessions are intended to help build reading, writing, and spelling skills for elementary and middle school aged children who struggle with literacy. If your child is currently reading significantly below their grade level due to difficulty with phonics and decoding skills, sign them up for a 30-minute tutoring appointment on Tuesday OR Friday afternoons in the small study pod at the library. Please note: This tutoring is for young students who are reading significantly below their expected reading level. If your student reads at or above grade level, these lessons will not be helpful to them. Signing up for one appointment slot does not automatically register you for the same time the next week. Please register individually for all of the weeks your child can attend. Please register for a time on Tuesdays OR on Fridays, not both! This tutoring is for 2nd-8th graders. If you have (or are) a student younger or older than this that you believe would benefit from individual phonics tutoring, please reach out at the email provided. If you believe your student would benefit from this kind of free tutoring but Tuesday or Friday afternoons (Fridays open in November 2026) do not work for your family, please reach out at the email provided and we can try to work out alternate scheduling. These tutoring sessions are not a substitute for literacy practice at home or at school. They are meant as a supplement to provide extra support for students to build their confidence with phonics, decoding, and reading in a comfortable environment that will meet them where they are at. Being a strong reader is one of the most important academic skills that a child can have. Literacy skills are necessary for every subject in school as well as socioemotional development. We hope this opportunity for free individual phonics tutoring will help the children of our community thrive in every aspect of their life going forward!
