Sound Series: Leenalchi

We welcome Leenalchi, a highly innovative and genre-defying South Korean alternative pop band formed in 2019, renowned for fusing traditional pansori (musical storytelling) with infectious melodies and rhythms. The band is on Luaka Bop, a record label founded by David Byrne, and their distinct sound often draws comparisons to the Talking Heads. Their overall aesthetic has been shaped in part by visionary bassist Young Gyu Jang, who has also created several horror film soundtracks and was a member of the iconic art band SsingSsing, which Tiny Desk’s Bob Boilen described as “one of my most memorable Tiny Desk Concerts of all time.” “Leenalchi has changed the way I think about music, dancing and Korea. I have never heard anything quite like this.” — Brian Eno Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Leenalchi’s performance begins at 8 p.m. This performance is primarily standing room only. Limited seating is available upon advance request. We are committed to offering inclusive, engaging experiences for people of all abilities.
