The Bend Sessions: West Bend’s Free Community Lecture Series August – November 2026 BILL VOLKERT Lake Baikal: Siberia’s Sacred Sea Bill Volkert spent 27 years as the naturalist and wildlife educator for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources at Horicon Marsh, where he led more than 3,700 education programs for over 220,000 visitors, including scientists from more than 40 countries. In retirement, he and his wife, Connie, have traveled across six continents in search of the world’s birds and wild places. For this program, Volkert heads to Siberia, sharing his travels to Lake Baikal — the world’s oldest and deepest freshwater lake. The Bend Sessions Community Lecture Series runs from August 10th through November 17th and is a FREE event open to the public, however registration is requested.
