The Bend Sessions: West Bend’s Free Community Lecture Series August – November 2026 BILL VOLKERT Birds of the Northern Kettle Moraine Bill Volkert spent 27 years as the naturalist and wildlife educator for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources at Horicon Marsh, where he led more than 3,700 education programs for over 220,000 visitors, including scientists from more than 40 countries. Now retired from the DNR, he lives near the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest, where he continues to study and photograph the region’s wildlife. For this program, Volkert turns his attention close to home, sharing the birds and habitats of the Northern Kettle Moraine that he has come to know best. The Bend Sessions Community Lecture Series runs from August 10th through November 17th and is a FREE event open to the public, however registration is requested.
