Women+ On The Edge of Democracy: Short Play Readings
From publicly posted calendar Checked 3 hours ago
About this event
One of 52 upcoming events at The Capri Theater, and 7,065 across the Twin Cities.
A group of Twin Cities theatre companies will each present a single reading from a collection of brand new plays written by Pulitzer, Tony and Emmy Award winners and Olivier and Oscar nominees in response to the questions: What is the current state of democracy in America? What can history, global context, or futurism offer us in this pivotal moment? Women+ on the Edge of Democracy sets out to form a collective portrait of a nation in doubt and transformation – seen through the eyes of women+ playwrights from around the world who have long chronicled America’s contradictions and dreams. Through comedy and tragedy, rage and tenderness, hope and fear, these pieces map a picture of America today – revealing how democracy feels to those who have spent their lives giving voice to the unseen and unheard. This event aims to bring people together and spark conversation ahead of the midterm elections in a nationwide act of listening. Featuring Twin Cities theaters, including: Full Circle Theatre, Mixed Blood, Prime Productions, Ten Thousand Things, Theatre in the Round Players, The Capri FREE PARKING in our lot. Details HERE.
