Explore the compelling dialogue between movement, storytelling, and visual art with acclaimed choreographer Ingrid Silva. Joined by esteemed dancers Giovanna Assis Genovas, Renan Cerdeiro, and Elias Re, Silva invites audiences to an exquisite afternoon of contemporary ballet and reflection. Following the performance Silva and the dancers will sit down for an insightful Q&A with those in attendance.

Presenting original works: Echoes on the Wall, As Ondas Da Vida (Waves of Life), and Interactions, Silva welcomes audiences to emotionally resonant choreography that examines the beauty in our shared human experiences. How do we connect with one another? How do we navigate life’s complexities, experience art, each other?  Join us as we roam the emotional landscape of trust, vulnerability, and that which unifies us.

This special Sunday performance has been programmed in tandem with our exhibition This Land: Considering The American Landscape, which is on view through September 6th.  Visit us during our exhibition hours 11 AM – 5 PM, Thursday – Monday and encounter the transhistorical exhibition curated by Donna De Salvo and Seph Rodney.

ABOUT INGRID

INGRID SILVA a Rio de Janeiro native, began training at 8 through the social project Dançando Para Não Dançar. She later trained at Escola de Dança Maria Olenewa and Centro de Movimento Deborah Colker on full scholarships and apprenticed with Grupo Corpo. In 2007, she moved to New York to join the Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) Professional Training Program, becoming a company member in 2013. With DTH, Silva has performed principal roles in works by George Balanchine, Alvin Ailey, and Ulysses Dove, Arthur Mitchell, Robert Garland and William Forsythe.

Silva founded PodHer and co-founded Blacks in Ballet, advocating for inclusivity in ballet. Her pointe shoes are exhibited at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture in 2020. Featured in Vogue, The New York Times, and Forbes Brazil's 20 Successful Women list. She authored the bestseller The Pointe Shoes That Changed My World and the ballerina who painted her pointe shoes. Currently, Silva is expanding her work as a choreographer. Her choreographic projects have been presented at the Fire Island Dance Festival, the Joyce Fall Gala, and Orsolina28, as well as at Carvalho Art Gallery in New York. She has created work for leading institutions including Chattanooga Ballet and Ballet Nacional Dominicano, bringing a distinctive voice that blends classical foundations with contemporary expression. Through her choreography, Silva continues to explore identity, community, and cultural dialogue across disciplines and borders.
