About this event
One of 46 upcoming events at The Phillips Collection, and 3,973 across Washington.
The Phillips Collection’s Living Room is a series of intimate conversations featuring artists, authors, curators, collectors, and museum professionals. These programs offer rare opportunities to engage in discussions that connect the museum’s collection with broader dialogues. As part of a special focus on Avery, Gottlieb & Rothko: By the Sea, join Phillips Collection Conservator Patricia Favero for a behind-the-scenes talk exploring the conservation of works by the three artists in the collection. Using a variety of techniques, the technical studies of the materials and processes the artists used revealed new information and insights—especially for Avery, whose materials and methods have been less studied. Patricia Favero is a Conservator at The Phillips Collection, where she specializes in the preservation, conservation, and technical study of paintings with an emphasis on modern and contemporary art. Favero holds an MA in Art Conservation from Buffalo State University. If you would like to request an accessibility service, please email [email protected] in advance of your visit.
