About this event
One of 57 upcoming events at Tucson Symphony Center.
The second feature of our ¡Fiesta Latina! Programming and the first chamber event of the season will whisk the audience away to the music of Uruguay and Argentina celebrating the dances of Tango and South American gauchos. After opening with Miguel del Águila’s Malambo, the music ventures south to Buenos Aires featuring Alberto Ginastera’s String Quartet and Astor Piazzolla’s La muerte del ángel, a piece that is said to have shaken the conservative world of tango with its jazz elements, helping to launch a shift toward Nuevo Tango. The program concludes with a nod to the Italian influence in Argentina, Luigi Boccherini’s Quintet in D Major for guitar and strings. The TSO Up Close Series is generously sponsored by Minna Shah. Plan Your Visit This concert is available as part of a TSO Up Close Subscription. This concert will be presented without an intermission.
