About this event
One of 57 upcoming events at Tucson Symphony Center.
Experience jazz piano virtuoso, Christian Sands as he takes the stage joined by Maestro José Luis Gómez and the TSO, to explore George Gershwin and the Jazz Age. Gershwin’s irresistible rhythms will fill the hall, led by the immortal Rhapsody in Blue, along with other jazz selections. Gershwin’s famous work premiered in New York City in 1924, with portions left incomplete according to historical accounts—leaving Gershwin to reportedly improvise portions of the solo during the debut performance. As a young musician, Sands demonstrates a surprising maturity in his approach to interpreting tunes from the jazz canon. Grant Jackson, NPR In partnership with the Tucson Jazz Festival.
