Morning Bring Your Own Bisqueware (BYOB) Raku

Age Level: 18 and up Experience Level: Intermediate and up Come fire your pots with us in this one-time introduction to Raku firing. Raku is quick, fiery, and the results are unpredictable but amazing. Each student may bring three to five bisque-fired pieces to fire. During our workshop, we’ll glaze the bisque-fired pots and fire them. Your completed pieces will be ready to go home the same day. Please note that your pieces must be bisque-fired. You may bring up to five pieces, but they must all fit within a 12-inch by 12-inch footprint. All work should be three-dimensional; flat tiles and plates will not be fired. Raku-fired work is NOT FOOD SAFE. To be an active participant in the firing, you MUST wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toed shoes. Other safety equipment will be provided. If you do not wish to handle the ware in the kiln, you may just observe. This workshop will take place outdoors in our Kiln Shelter. If you have any questions about this program, what kind of clay to use, or how to get your work bisque-fired, email Mac in advance. Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Each registration includes glaze and firing costs for one participant. No outside clay or glazes permitted. If a class or workshop is sold out, you may request to be added to the waitlist.
