UMF Professor of Political Science and Pre-Law Adviser Dr. Jim Melcher will present his 20th Annual Supreme Court Preview and Review in UMF’s Lincoln Auditorium on Wednesday, October 14 from 12:30-1:45. Professor Melcher will discuss at least 5 cases and decisions from the past Supreme Court term, and at least 5 cases from the upcoming term. Cases from the upcoming term on Professor Melcher’s docket include Viramontes v. Cook County (firearms regulation), Republican National Committee v. Mi Familia Vota (voter registration) and St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy (Free Exercise Clause vs. state regulations) Cases from the past term will include West Virginia v. B. P. J.,(trans student participation in school sports) Trump v. V.O.S. Selections (tariffs) , and Trump v. Barbara (birthright citizenship). Professor Melcher will reserve time for your questions. The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the UMF Provost’s Office, UMF Political Science, and UMF Pre-Law.
