About this event
One of 6 upcoming events at West Baton Rouge Museum.
The October classes are inspired by the arrival of autumn. Younger learners will draw and paint autumn trees from the perspective of looking up to the sky, and much like the current exhibit, What the Fox Knows, they will be encouraged to hide a fox or owl in their fall foliage compositions. Older learners will learn to draw pumpkins and use mixed media to turn them into creative pumpkin cottages where a fox might hide. Shauna Landry is a Louisiana native who has over a decade of experience working with children in art. From painting and drawing to instructing young minds how to break complex objects into foundational images, Shauna is excited to develop children’s artistic skills. Shauna received an associate degree from New Mexico State University in Early Childhood Education and formal art instruction from the AHH Ha School of Arts in Colorado and the Young Rembrandts Program. She is currently teaching art at Ascension Christian School while pursuing a bachelor’s degree online from Arizona State University. This program is offered FREE of charge and takes place on the 4th Saturday of the month, except for alternate dates as needed for holidays and other special events. All art supplies are provided, but space is limited to ten students per class, and advanced registration is required.
