Join us at Zingerman’s Roadhouse for a special dinner celebrating one of our favorite culinary combinations: pork and whiskey. Our Roadhouse cooks will be putting pork front and center with a multi-course menu designed to showcase the incredible range of this beloved meat—from smokey and savory to rich, tender and downright indulgent. Each course will be paired with a selection of whiskeys from Detroit City Distillery, giving you the chance to taste how different spirits can bring out entirely new flavors in the food. Bonus: there will be a surprise, exclusive tasting at the dinner of something very special from Detroit City! We’ll also be joined by Washtenaw Meats, who will stop by to share more about the pork behind the dinner and the craft of sourcing and preparing great local meat. Tasting Notes: A spicy, buttery body with hints of caramel and coffee on the nose. Detroit City Distillery’s Four Grain Straight Bourbon| 100 proof | 1oz pour 57% Corn | 19% Rye | 12% Red Winter Wheat | 2% Malted Barley Tasting Notes: Sweet autumn nose of green apple, caramel and wheat. The corn and big barley bill come together to produce a silky body with notes of browned butter, walnuts and fig. Finishes with our signature rye spice, pistachio and cinnamon. Detroit City Distillery’s Butcher’s Cut Bourbon | 100 proof | 1oz pour 68% Corn | 27% Rye | 5% Specialty Roasted Barley Malts. Tasting Notes: Notes of toasted pecan and caramel on the nose lead to a robust body of vanilla, smoked oak and candied almonds. It ends with a spicy high rye finish with notes of orange peel and pink peppercorn. ——————————- MENU Bacon Popcorn (GF) Bur Oaks red popcorn with bacon fat and smoked salt. Plated Appetizer Empanada with Peach Salsa A housemade empanada stuffed with our version of picadilla, made with ground pork, raisins, olives, and onions. Served with a Michigan peach salsa. Plated Salad Smoky Salad with Pork Rind (GF) Grilled radicchio, bacon vinaigrette, and smoked plum. Topped with a housemade pork rind. Family Style Entrées Coffee Spiced Pork Loin (GF) Local smoked pork loin, rubbed with brown sugar and our Roadhouse Joe Coffee Spiced Rub. Spiced Spare Ribs (GF) Niman Ranch pork ribs, rubbed with our 5 spice blend and smoked over oak ‘til tender. Family Style Sides Charred Root Vegetables (Vegan, GF) Local carrots and parsnips charred over oak. Blue Hominy & Pork (GF) Anson Mills’ blue hominy, braised with onions, pork fatback and herbs. Dessert Burnt Honey Butterscotch Pudding (GF) Served with grilled stone fruit, and drizzled with bacon fat caramel.
