Straight Outta Florida – Throwing Shade on the Sunshine State is a 90-minute comedy filled with sketch, satire and music starring their most unforgettable characters. Whether you’ve lived in Florida, vacationed here, settled here, or just can’t resist the headlines, this new show delivers the hilarious stories we all suspected were true. Two actors, six characters, and a wildly entertaining ride through the charm and quirks of the Sunshine State. PERFORMER BIO: Compton & Bennett are Rick Compton and Betsy Bennett. They have been creating and performing original stage works for more than 25-years. Although best known for Assisted Living: The Musical®, they have written the book, composed the score, and produced more than a dozen original musical comedies with casts up to seven and scored for bands as many as eight pieces. C&B have been touring nationally for more than 15-years playing venues from El Portal in Hollywood, CA to The Tropicana Showroom in Atlantic City, NJ. Betsy Bennett is a lifelong theatre denizen, a veteran of more than 100 productions before Compton & Bennett. Betsy has played roles such as Dr. Livingston in Agnes of God, Katherine in Pippin and Mama Rose in Gypsy, for which she received 32 consecutive standing ovations. She is a product of Albion College’s theatre program and of Playwrights Horizons (Andre Bishop) in New York. Rick Compton is a writer, a musician and a creative. He has won multiple awards for magazine feature stories including humor columns, and has played piano and synth in, and musically directed dozens of pit bands. He created and franchises Via Colori®, a street painting festival held hundreds of times in 17 cities, and raising more than $5 million for important social causes.
