In this workshop, participants will use abstraction to explore themes around the body, family, nature, movement, emotion, and the subconscious. Working in acrylic paint, participants will be introduced to a range of painting techniques, in addition to learning how to transform materials such as canvas, wood, and paper into painting surfaces. By the end of the workshop, participants will have created a painting that communicates truths about a real-life subject, all while transcending its original form. This program is supported, in part, by E.A. Michelson Philanthropy, the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) and The Fan Fox and Leslie Samuels Foundation
