Ecology of the Dungeness Course

A Five-Week Field Course for Adults Explore one of the Olympic Peninsula’s most remarkable landscapes from the peaks of the Olympic Mountains to the shores of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. In this immersive five-week course, staff from the Dungeness River Nature Center, the Jamestown S’Klallam Natural Resources Department, and local experts will guide adult learners through the natural and cultural histories of the Dungeness Watershed. Each session combines presentations with hands-on field trips to iconic locations throughout this 200-square-mile watershed. Participants should be able to walk 1–2 miles on uneven terrain. Each day of the course begins at the Dungeness River Nature Center. Snacks will be provided but please bring a lunch, water, layers, shoes with good traction, and anything else that will make the field trip more comfortable.
