August 13:  Gary Bowen, FAIA, Principal Emeritus BVH Architecture TREEHOUSE An Urban Living Experiment In 1977, five young architects purchased a heavily treed inner-city plot of land occupied by a former farmhouse with the idea to create a unique living community. A masterplan was developed that featured 11 townhomes clustered around a central auto court. Having a grand idea and little funding, the group devised a creative plan to finance and construct the project, and to negotiate the complicated bureaucratic zoning approval process with the City of Omaha.
