About this event

@ Flip Glass, Toddy Stick, and Punch Bowl Comfort, Camaraderie and Entertainment for the Colonials. “The days are short, the weather’s cold,   By tavern fires tales are told.   Some ask for dram when first come in,   Others with flip and bounce begin.” Taverns were a staple in colonial and revolutionary eras – they were not only places for travelers to gain sustenance and shelter, but active spaces in the community for exchanges of ideas and information. Sandwich had many roadside taverns including two on Old County Road with one located in the Nye Homestead! Marge Donley, Nye Museum Educator, will delve deeper into the history of the Nye Homestead Tavern and colonial taverns in New England.  Explore the history of these interesting institutions, including the types of spirits and food served, typical glassware and serving vessels, locations, and more. Join us at the Nye Museum’s Grange Hall at 4PM on Tuesday, June 7th. Free to members/$10 not-yet-members Tavern Talk: July 7 Add to calendar Google Calendar iCalendar Outlook 365 Outlook Live
