About this event

Slow Stitch is a mindful, contemplative craft and unhurried process using stitch as meditation. Instructor: Tara Jon Manning (tarajonmanning.com) Ages: young adult, adult Class Size: Minimum 2, Maximum 8 Prerequisite: None; class is designed for beginners and open to all levels Materials Fee: All materials included Description:Slow Stitch is a mindful, contemplative craft and unhurried process using stitch as meditation. Slow Stitch asks you to take time to develop a deep connection with the materials, the creative process, and yourself. It strengthens the connection of our hands to the lineage of all those who have made stitch before us. We will start with a piece of fabric and a simple running stitch. We place our focus on the doing, not the product. As we work the needle and thread in and out, we will explore the ways we are invited to stillness, and calm. We will play with the qualities evoked through stitch, and explore the beauty inherent in repurposed materials. Location: pARTiculars Art Gallery and Teaching Studio, Lafayette Contact: tarajonmakes@gmail.com
