About this event

Create your own mini sewn map art quilt of Lake Superior. Shea will provide a variety of Superior-themed maps for inspiration, and students are also invited to bring their own. The class will cover instruction of technique, including how to create layered images using fusible and applique and students will create one 6 x 6-inch art quilt stretched over canvas and ready to hang. Shea will also demonstrate the cutting machine she uses to make some of her more intricate pieces. Students are asked to bring the following supplies Sewing machine (Shea has two that can be rented for $25. Please reach out to the Art Colony if you are interested: 218-387-2737) Remember your power cord. The Art Colony has extension cords available. Thread and bobbins for your sewing machine Sewing tools, including pins, needles, small scissors, etc.  The following supplies will be provided for you Scissors Rotary cutters  Self-healing cutting mats Iron and ironing board Fabric and supplies Specialty threads for embroidery and applique
